*Queue The Final Countdown
Kylie had chemo on Tuesday this week, thankfully, because then she was able to go to church on Sunday. Last time, she had chemo on Wednesday, and she was not ready for that.
Jacqueline went with her to Chemo, and I stayed with Cher and the boys. Willie has been wanting Daddy lately, which is nice. I was always so jealous of Emmie wanting Mommy. Haha.
Jacqueline and Kylie got checked in and had the blood draw as well as the office visit. Then, Doctor Stephenson came in and checked her armpit and breast as well as advised on if treatment would happen or not this week. A few days prior, Kylie had found these lumps inside her armpits again. She was scared and nervous about them. How could you not be after the last time you found foreign feelings in your skin turned out to be Cancer? She emailed and called Sebrina, the nurse, but Sebrina was out of town on Friday.
Dr. Stephenson came in and took a look. He said she was having folliculitis. The hairs in her armpit had become inflamed and made the skin look red. Similar to the thing she was having on top of her head last time she had the Red Devil. Maybe that’s why they call it the Red Devil because it makes you have redness in your skin. Thank goodness that’s all it was. He also took a look at her numbers. Her Neutrophils were at 900. Which is low. He checked the injection they gave her last time and realized that she had received the same dose she was getting before she started Red Devil. That dose does not last as long or is as strong. He told her to go ahead and get treated and then corrected the dosage on the injection, which she received the following day.

Kylie and Jacqueuline went to the treatment room, but this time, they went to the top floor of the hospital. The ambulatory infusion center. They were placed in a little room, so small that when Kylie had to go to the bathroom and wheel her infusion cart, they had to move chairs around. Everything went well with the treatment.

After chemo, Kylie texted me on the way home and said she could barely keep her eyes open. When she got home, she chatted for about 15 minutes and ate a light lunch. Then she went up to the bedroom. I went with her, closed the blinds and curtains, got her some water, and then left her to sleep.
Kylie texted the family chat that day, My body feels very heavy, and I can barely get up to walk to the bathroom. It is very nice to have Cher & Jacqueline here; they are so nice.
She slept all day until around 3 am when she texted the family group a message and said, “Hello, here is my 30th birthday plan.” She shared a whole 2-page document that she wrote when she was up in the middle of the night, haha.
Wednesday and Thursday, she also slept or laid in the dark room listening to some audio books when she was awake.

Willie played with Cher and Jacqueline all day. Occasionally popping into the closet office to chat with me. He is really good at playing with people, and these two have been so fun for him. I’ve noticed they are very present and engaging with the kids. Something I am learning to do. Jacqueline and Cher did all the things, took Emmie to school, picked Emmie up, played with Willie and Emmie, and took care of Tommy.
One day, I was listening to music while i was working, and I found this song called Tell your heart to beat again and it’s just been speaking to me this week, especially with what we’re going through and how everything is changed.
Kylie started feeling a little better on Friday. After hibernating like a bear, she got out of her bed and came down and just rested on the couch and chatted with us for a few hours, then went back to bed for the rest of the day. The,n on Saturday, she was up around 8:30, which is early. She went to a Relief Society activity at Church. I took the kids to Croft State Park. We went hiking and played at a creek, we picked up trash with a group that was picking up trash, and ate lunch by a lake watching Geese and looking at ants and Cicadia shells.
We will not have people staying in our house for 2 weeks! I am shocked. We have had someone living with us nearly constantly since before Thanksgiving last year. We are so grateful for all the time people have sacrificed to come help us out. If this did not happen, I would probably have to go part-time at work or work an insane schedule, or not work at all. And that has been a big blessing to us, for our income to remain steady. It lets us focus on healing. All the people that have come are angels, we love getting to know them better and learning about their lives. Thank you for showing us God’s love.
One more to go.
